Thousands of Actos lawsuit claims alleging bladder cancer continue to move forward in the federal litigation now underway in the Western District of Louisiana, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports.
According to a calendar update posted on the court’s website, the next Status Conference in the proceeding is scheduled for June 20th, 2013.* Lawsuits filed in this litigation have been brought by plaintiffs who allege long-term use of the type 2 diabetes drug caused their bladder cancer.
Among other matters, the upcoming Conference will discuss the status of state and federal Actos lawsuit claims, the status of discovery and impending bellwether trials in the litigation. The first trial in the federal Actos bladder cancer litigation will begin in January 2014, court records indicate. (In re: Actos Product Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2299)

According to court documents, the first bellwether trial for the Actos bladder cancer litigation is slated to begin on January 27, 2014, and the second will begin on April 14, 2014.
