“Our mission is to grow and serve the motorcycling community and we are honored to serve these very special motorcyclists in this way,” said Owner Bob Althoff.

Members the Columbus-based Lima Company enjoyed a whole new kind of freedom this week courtesy of America’s Oldest Harley dealer. Twelve Marines from the 3rd Battalion, 35th Marines group returned this month from deployment in Afghanistan and learned to ride motorcycles at A.D. Farrow Co. Harley-Davidson Shop at Northstar.

The unit that left last May went on more than 900 patrols, found 18 roadside bombs, flew eight insurgent interdiction missions and completed four village medical outreach projects. When they returned home, new regulations mandated that anyone wishing to ride a motorcycle on a military base must complete a training course certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.

A.D. Farrow Co. Harley-Davidson at I-71 and State Route 27 in Sunbury, offered a special Rider’s Edge New Rider Motorcycle Training Course to accommodate the Marines at the dealership in Delaware County and local restaurant Shane’s Rib Shack catered lunch for the group.

“Our mission is to grow and serve the motorcycling community and we are honored to serve these very special motorcyclists in this way,” said Owner Bob Althoff.

A.D. Farrow Co. Harley-Davidson, America’s Oldest Harley Dealer, was Ohio’s first private provider of rider training and has trained more than 3,200 new motorcyclists since 2003.

“We are always very thankful for the support the Columbus area shows us. We greatly appreciate the time and effort from A.D. Farrow Co. and our instructors,” said SSGT. Bryan Hillberg.

A second group of twelve Marines will complete the course next month.
