School like Eton are statistically more likely to have adulterous alumni

These environments, both private schools and schools governed by religion, are largely regarded as less ‘liberal’ than most standard comprehensives, from their dress code to their code of ethics. Ideas about relationships are usually more traditional in these institutions, especially those affiliated with Christianity.

Married dating site IllicitEncounters.com has discovered that an overwhelming percentage of its members were educated at fee-paying schools. The news comes shortly after Old Etonian Boris Johnson came under fire for his alleged affair with adviser Helen Macintyre.

A whopping 22% of the site’s membership attended private school; that’s double the amount of privately educated people nationally (The Independent Schools Council, 2009). The website, which began in 2003, has seen a long-running trend of unusually well-educated, high-earning individuals seeking out affairs online.

The study also found that 15% of IllicitEncounters.com members attended a religious school.

Adam Scott, CEO of the website, comments; “These environments, both private schools and schools governed by religion, are largely regarded as less ‘liberal’ than most standard comprehensives, from their dress code to their code of ethics. Ideas about relationships are usually more traditional in these institutions, especially those affiliated with Christianity.”

“We know from research that men and women who feel restricted by cultural and religious ideals, are often those who feel the need to marry at a young age, and are, consequentially, far more likely to feel frustrated and claustrophobic in their partnership. The greatest rebels are often those who are given something, like an expectation or a religious requirement, to rebel against.”

IllicitEncounters.com have over half a million users across the UK, representing 2.5% of the married population.
