AERC.com Inc. (AERC Recycling Solutions) collected 169,897 pounds of end-of-life electronics for recycling at its Earth Day events this year. These events were held throughout the United States on or around Earth Day which was on April 22. All electronics collected were sent for processing at one of AERC’s Electronics Processing Com-Cycle Facilities. Each of these facilities has the industry designation of being an R2 / RIOS™ Certified Electronics Recycler® facility and has been independently certified to these industry designations.
AERC’s local Electronics Recycling Collection Events serve as a resource for local communities by providing a convenient option for the safe and responsible disposition of electronics while protecting any sensitive information contained on these devices. Collected materials at these collection event included computers, keyboards, televisions, modems, fax machines, printers, scanners, handheld games, telephones, cell phones, cameras, pagers, VCRs, tape decks, CD players, movie projectors, radios, and other electronic products.
All collected equipment was processed according to a Zero-Waste-to-Landfill Policy. Any data contained on any data storage devices has been physically destroyed or wiped according to standards set by the Department of Defense. All accepted electronics are processed according to the standards set by the R2 / RIOS™ Certified Electronics Recycler® industry certifications program.
In addition to offering Electronics Recycling Collection Events, AERC offers small businesses and individuals the Drop Off Friday Program and RecycleKits Program. Local community members are able to drop off small quantities of Electronic Waste at each of AERC’s facilities during local Drop Off Friday hours.
