Aerogem.com creates an affordable line of handcrafted pendants made with rare Aerogel – the lightest material on earth.

Aerogem.com has created an exclusive line of pendants using Aerogel that consists of 97% air. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Aerogel is also the lightest solid material on earth. While technology firms and NASA continue to explore its many uses, this unique material makes an excellent fashion accessory to complement any style for both men and women.

Every Aerogem pendant is handcrafted by skilled artisans in Scottsdale, Arizona. The exclusive "Air Wear" Collection (patent pending) offers an eclectic blend of titanium, silver and rare Aerogel that is minimalist in design: Clean, sophisticated, and stylish.

Aerogel has gained much notoriety earlier this year, when it returned from space on NASA’s Stardust mission, where it captured comet particles that were traveling at 6 times the speed of a bullet.

NASA calls Aerogel "mystifying blue smoke" that, at first glance, resembles a hologram. Its transparency is deceiving as to whether it's even there or not. Aerogel creates what is called a "Rayleigh scattering effect", which produces the same brilliant blue tint that creates the blue sky. The nearly transparent Super Material weighs less than three times that of air and is 1,000 times less dense than glass. Its unique holographic characteristics makes Aerogel one of the most unusual, compelling – and certainly the lightest - solid material in the world.

Over the years, Aerogel has been used in everything from food additives and high technology insulation - to toothpaste, but has rarely been seen or available to the general public. For the first time, Aerogem has introduced an affordable and unique Aerogel product for the consumer market.

The Aerogel pendants come in a variety of colors and include an abstract silver triangle dangle that is the symbol for air. Cost for the pendants range from $38 to $64 each.
