VSS monitoring, Incorporated™ recently introduced the 10/100/1000 2x1 Aggregation Tap for redundant networks. This tap receives data from two full-duplex networks of varying speeds, aggregating them onto a single, transmit-only port for monitoring.

The 2x1 Aggregator Tap sits inline in both active and passive networks allowing both to be constantly monitored on a single interface, by a single IDS or forensics device. “Our users implement this network Tap because it’s the right fit for monitoring redundant networks,” says VSS monitoring CEO, Terence Breslin. "Ensuring constant visibility during a failover in either gateway or core networks is critical to the analysis and backward transparency required after an attack. Visibility loss however can render the Forensics or IDS tool useless forcing the customer to spend years and millions of dollars to recover.”

Product features include VSS monitoring’s proprietary Link Safe™, which employs and intelligent controller enabling link failures to be observed by network elements on both sides of the tap. This feature supports redundancy in routers and switches whenever a link fails.

Multiple, front-panel LEDs give the user at-a-glance feedback regarding power status, link/speed, and error readings.
