In the down market of 2009-2010, Akavit grew as an agency by developing a total of 44 digital programs and significantly increasing revenue to more than one million dollars. In 2011, the company has evolved from a technical agency to a strategic digital marketing agency and is driving overall innovation within the industry with plans for at least one company spin-off within the next twelve months.

According to Ad Age’s Agency Report 2011, digital services accounted for an estimated $8.5 billion (28%) of the $30.4 billion in 2010 U.S. revenue generated by the 900-plus advertising and marketing-services agencies that Ad Age analyzed. Digital's share of agency revenue rose from 25.8% in 2009. In dollar terms, agencies' digital revenue jumped 16.9% in 2010.

Digital industry growth is attributable in part to the fact that digital marketing requires a different way of thinking, planning and communicating than traditional marketing. Strategic digital programs drive action, response, and results and foster conversations. Digital programs can also change rapidly and be measured by customer engagement and loyalty.

His extensive portfolio includes projects with brands such as Einstein Bagels, Noodles and Co, The Denver Broncos, Mix 1, Red Robin, Gorilla Glue, Jack Links, Bernina and GoLite. Betts is certified by the Project Management Institute and earned a BA from CU Denver.
