Today, Alterian reported that its integration of Techrigy Inc, acquired in July 2009, and product and infrastructure investments in Alterian SM2, the leading Social Media Monitoring tool it acquired through the Techrigy acquisition, has helped it to add a stream of over 70 new brands in this fast-moving market since the acquisition. This is an increased rate of sign up of new customers in addition to that achieved by Techrigy prior to the acquisition. Also, over 1,500 brands have signed up for the SM2 Freemium evaluation version of the software over this period. The latest release of Alterian SM2 shipped in August has over 80 technology enhancements, including expanded reporting options and multi-language sentiment analysis.
Alterian has affirmed its commitment of continued investment in Alterian SM2 with a new training and client onboarding program, a defined product roadmap including integration into the award winning Alterian Integrated Marketing Platform, and doubling the size of the Development and Quality Assurance engineering staff dedicated to the product. This commitment to the Alterian SM2 technology reflects the investment beginning to permeate the Social Media Monitoring (SMM) space. Forrester Research, in a March 2009 report, 'Social Media Playtime is Over', noted, "While many marketing budgets are being cinched, more than 50 percent of interactive marketers say they will increase their spending on social marketing," which reflects the interest Alterian has seen since the acquisition.
To accommodate recent and anticipated client growth, Alterian has also integrated the Data Center and Operations staff from Techrigy with its pre-existing team, and commenced investments in the Alterian SM2 SaaS infrastructure. Alterian customers will experience the benefits of these investments by the end of 2009 when Alterian releases its SM2 Social Media Warehouse 2.0 - a major step forward for SMM enabling near real-time search and unrivalled performance characteristics.
All other functions have also been successfully integrated, including Sales & Marketing where Alterian SM2 is now being taken to market by Alterian's teams across the US, UK, Continental Europe and Asia Pac - all of which have seen success in signing new Alterian SM2 customers since the acquisition.
