As part of their nationwide expansion, Alterra Pest Control set a specific goal of acquiring 50,000 new customer accounts in 2012. In May alone they grew over 10,000 new customers and seemed well on their way to achieving their goal. As the summer steamed up in Nashville, TN, the pests were out in droves with increased populations of tics and fleas—and Alterra was there to answer the call. They ushered in a staggering number of new accounts: 53,000 new customers signed in a single summer, something the industry had never seen before by a start up. The Nashville area contributed about 3,200 new customers to Alterra’s new client base.
It was important to Alterra to be able to support this new client base as well as to sustain future growth. In order to achieve this, the company focused on team building, training, and education, with a strong emphasis on their own 10 Core Values.
