Americans are not known for pomp and circumstance. Outside of weddings, award shows, and a few charity events, there are not many occasions to wear formal clothing. For that exact reason, Amatyzt.com founder Alexa Ronngren looked to Europe to find an extraordinary cufflink designer. “When my husband and I got married, I wanted to give him a special gift to remember this day. After all, I had this amazing engagement ring on my finger!”, Alexa explains, “So I decided to get him a pair of special cufflinks. Unfortunately, what I found in jewelry stores were utterly ordinary, so he never got that gift.”

A decade later, the entrepreneur decided that her online jewelry boutique, Amatyzt.com, should make it easy for brides to give a special gift of jewelry to their grooms. When Alexa saw the brand Exceptio, she felt like this was exactly what she was looking for; a limited edition line of handcrafted cufflinks with exceptional design and function. Luckily for Alexa, the brand was also looking for a way to sell and service customers in North America. Anamaría Lascurain, managing director of Exceptio, commented “we are delighted by this partnership with Amatyzt which will allow our us to finally satisfy the growing requests from the US market which, as you can imagine, is very important to us. Amatyzt’s reputation for offering only the finest innovative luxury jewelry is an ideal match with Exceptio.”

Exceptio cufflinks are designed in London and handcrafted in the Douro region of northern Portugal. The area is reputed for its long tradition of delicate, handcrafted jewelry, developing specialized manufacturing techniques, most notably in Portuguese filigree. Portuguese Filigree is an extremely intricate and delicate form of jewelry metalwork consisting of twisted threads of gold or silver. It evolved in jewelry over the centuries to demonstrate one's faith, power and family heritage. “Exceptio is the result of many years of search for the perfect cufflinks. We wanted functional designs that allow a natural fit on the shirt whilst preserving their inner elegance. We believe we have achieved this through our signature chain link used in each design”, commented Álvaro Lopes-Cardoso, head designer of the brand.

The collection includes red Mediterranean coral beads, filigree medallions, half-spheres and gold partridge’s eye beads, known as Viana’s beads. Every cufflink is individually hand crafted with meticulous attention to detail in solid 19.2 ct or 18 ct gold and sterling silver. You can order any of their luxury cufflinks from Amatyzt.com. Exceptio is a Registered Trademark.

Amatyzt.com is an online jewelry boutique that specializes in unique designer jewelry by notable designers from all over the world. Founder Alexa Ronngren came up with the idea after meeting an award winning jewelry designer who despite having talent and accolades didn’t have the marketing knowledge to promote her brand. Coming from a family with four generations in the gemstone business, Alexa has been able to curate a special collection of beautiful, high quality jewelry, watches and accessories on Amatyzt.com. Some designers are international award winners, others are well respected in their home market, and a few are emerging stars just starting to get discovered. The site’s handpicked international array of designers includes Maria Moreno from Argentina, Mikky Eger from Milan, Atelier Orafo from Florence, Patrick Jerer from Beirut, Posse & Rake and Perihan Tufan from Australia, Sissai from Peru, Gwel from Barcelona, Leonor Heleno from Paris, PavlinaJewel from Athens, Pia Cevallos from Miami and ShinYi from New York. Despite coming from different corners of the world, they all share a passion for creating interesting, gorgeous, and uncommon jewelry.
