Ambassador Energy Enhances New Agency Solar Training Schedule for 2011 While Forming a Waiting List for the Remainder of 2010

Due to demand from contractors interested in adding Solar PV to their portfolios, Ambassador Energy is doubling its 2011 New Agency Training schedule. For the remainder of 2010, waiting lists are forming for their proprietary solar class at the Murrieta, CA training facility.

Ambassador Energy’s Agency Relations Manager, Frank Saldana, back from a ‘meet and greet’ trip to Oregon, has enrolled three new Oregon Agencies, all of whom are currently licensed General, Electrical and Roofing Contractors. Upon completing the AE New Agency Training, they will provide solar solutions to Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Northern California.

In addition, Saldana is spending time in San Diego, CA, supporting last month’s AE Training graduates and recruiting additional contractors to meet the growing consumer demand in Southern California. “When I came on board with Ambassador Energy, I knew the offering was unique and compelling, but I had no way to expect this type of reception from the contractors out there. They are really responsive to what Ambassador Energy is offering and anxious to get in the solar game,” Frank said. “They are especially eager to work with a company like Ambassador Energy, who holds General Contracting, Solar, Electrical licenses and is lead by Steve Fulgham, one the industry’s leaders, who is NABCEP certified. These credentials are a very rare find in one solar company. It seems that companies are springing up from unrelated industries and being lead by non-solar business people, rather than leaders who were actually out in the field, selling and installing solar. It’s great to work with folks here who grew a training and distribution company and actually got their hands dirty doing solar.”

Ambassador Energy’s next New Agency Training will be held October 26-29, 2010. The October class is composed of Oregon and California contractors, and will provide specific focus to rebates, incentives, building codes and buying cultures in those states.

Steve Fulgham, Ambassador Energy’s CEO, leads the training, and also, leads by example. He consistently encourages the trainees to hone their new skills, continue to seek education, and get every license applicable to the renewable energy industry. Fulgham is especially supportive of their getting NABCEP certified, OSHA certifications and multiple contracting licenses. “The industry is being over-populated by solar contractors who do not carry significant credentials. The time is now, in this quickly-growing market, for our Agencies, who have been qualified and trained by Ambassador Energy, to differentiate themselves from the multitude of unqualified solar integrators,” said Fulgham.

Ambassador Energy’s president, Kelly Smith, adds in her typical flair, “We coach them to be the expert. Be the contractor with the appropriate licenses. If there is roof work involved in the installation, either be a roofer or hire a licensed roofer. Most states require having an electrician in the equation, which is good. Yet many fail to recognize the importance of the roofer. Most consumers do not realize that when a solar contractor puts holes in a roof for the racking, it often voids the existing roof warranty. It’s criminal what is happening out there where today’s solar knuckleheads are jumping around on roofs without proper licenses.”    

Ambassador Energy’s New Authorized Agency Training program includes residential and commercial solar technology, sales and marketing, site analysis, string sizing, quoting, financing, and rebate filings. It culminates with a hands-on installation of an active 2-kilowatt solar PV system, which gives all new Ambassador Energy Authorized Agencies the opportunity to get their first installation under their belts. Upon return to their home market places, Ambassador Energy will also send field technicians to assist with their first installations there, assuring that they experience positive starts in their new product/service vertical.
