This top VMmark result for four-socket servers is another testament to Dell and AMD's ongoing collaboration in providing virtualization optimized solutions that help customers meet today's increasing data center computing demands.

"The VMmark results on Dell's PowerEdge 905 further solidify AMD's position as the industry leader in performance and performance-per-watt for multi-processor servers," said Patrick Patla, general manager, server and workstation business, AMD. "Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors offer customers many unique features that can help deliver near native application performance on their virtualized servers, including Rapid Virtualization Indexing (RVI.) AMD is committed to working with Dell and the industry to continue developing more performance indicators that demonstrate the full suite of virtualization capabilities, such as RVI, which are available to customers today."

AMD Virtualization™ technology with Rapid Virtualization Indexing helps enable customers running Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors to significantly improve their performance due to the system's ability to more easily manage memory and decrease the time "switching" between virtual machines.

"Dell PowerEdge servers lead the industry in virtualization performance regardless of form factor, enabling customers to reduce complexity and more effectively support their virtual IT environments," said Sally Stevens, Director of PowerEdge Servers, Dell Product Group. "This top VMmark result for four-socket servers is another testament to Dell and AMD's ongoing collaboration in providing virtualization optimized solutions that help customers meet today's increasing data center computing demands."

Dell PowerEdge servers equipped with AMD processors take advantage of AMD's unique Direct Connect Architecture to help reduce bottlenecks, minimize latency and increase the performance of virtualized applications.
