The new venture, AmericaCreates.com, http://www.americacreates.com, offers electronic storefronts for independent artists while also inviting consumers to explore the artist experience and learn about upcoming creative events and associations in their communities. In addition to selling excellent quality American artwork and fine crafts, America Creates includes easy-to-search databases making it possible for visitors to simply find local exhibitions, classes, artist cooperatives, art schools, guilds and gallery openings, and learn more about specific art techniques.
U.S.-based artists and fine craftspeople - along with guilds, co-ops, art schools, community art centers, museums and galleries- are invited to join the community at no charge.
Artists and entrepreneurs, Larry Hitchcock and Sharon Sinclair founded America Creates with the stated belief that "by growing creativity we build a stronger, more innovative America." The husband-wife pair draw on decades of experience working as award-winning stage and event designers for such major entertainers as the Rolling Stones, ZZ Top and Reba McEntire, and for corporations from Apple to Lexus. Hitchcock was an executive and creative director for Walt Disney, Universal Studios and Lucas Films and creative director for advertising firms, Foote, Cone & Belding and McCann Erickson. In addition to being an award-winning interior designer, Sinclair produced her own line of lighting fixtures and custom hardware featured in many of the world's leading resort hotels and private homes. Sinclair's skills extend to producing music videos and two Clio award-winning commercials.
"We understand the difficulty many artists experience in marketing their own merchandise. The energy it takes to do this well often leaves little time for their craft," said Sinclair. "Many have little budget or time to create a Web presence, yet consumers are in search of one-of-a-kind objects with a personal story. America Creates was designed to bring people together and help creativity flourish."
America Creates promotes independent American craftspeople and creative businesses that meet strict quality standards through direct-to-public Internet sales, marketing, business counseling and support services. Artists gain the added support of dedicated services that optimize search engine results, raising consumer awareness and driving traffic to their sites.
Shoppers can explore and purchase a wide range of useful and beautifully handcrafted goods through America Creates. The site will offer pottery, wood, glass, jewelry, fine art and photography, as well as a wealth of talent expressing creativity in the production of handsome bedding and linens, soaps and lotions, metal arts and more.
