Lanham, MD (PRWEB) September 14, 2009
Pompano Beach, Florida - September 14, 2009 - Today, American Diabetes Wholesale announced Brian Harris as the winner of the GlucoStories & Charlie Kimball Share Your Story Contest. Brian was selected as a finalist by a panel of judges recognized in the diabetes community and was chosen by people who voted for their favorite diabetes story on the GlucoStories.com website. Born and raised in Iowa, Brian is a 37 year-old father of two. He was diagnosed with having diabetes after suffering a massive heart attack at the young age of 33. To read Brian's complete story, please visit the GlucoStories winner.
Dedicated to keeping diabetes management affordable for all, especially the uninsured, American Diabetes Wholesale partnered with Charlie Kimball, a 24-year old Indy Lights race car driver and who has Type I diabetes, back in May to launch GlucoStories. The concept of the contest was to bring together individuals living with diabetes or supporting someone with diabetes and provide them with a platform to share their personal experiences. The contest asked people to explain how diabetes has impacted their lives and enter to win a Grand Prize trip to the "Firestone® Indy Lights" Championship Race at the Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida on Friday, October 9, 2009. The winner would not only have the opportunity to see Charlie compete, but also spend time with the driving star and see how he doesn't let diabetes slow him down.
"Community involvement and education are two of the pillars that American Diabetes Wholesale was founded on," said Chris Maguire, Vice President of American Diabetes Wholesale. "Inspiring people living with diabetes to reach beyond stereotypical boundaries that are associated with the disease and educating the masses about the impact diabetes is having on our society, is the heart of the matter." Maguire continued, "On behalf of the entire American Diabetes Wholesale team, we extend our congratulations to Brian. His story inspired us to continue our mission of helping people with diabetes live healthy and happy lives."
With the support of Home Diagnostics, a leading developer of quality blood glucose monitoring products at affordable prices, Allison Medical, Defeat Diabetes Foundation, Diabetic Rockstar, JDRF Greater Palm Beach County Chapter, American Diabetes Wholesale and other partners, GlucoStories is a platform for people with diabetes or those who support people living with diabetes to inspire and feel inspired about living the best life possible.
