As an athlete who has been trained to always want to achieve more, putting the elements of ‘The Game Plan’ into my life was essential.
Pompano Beach, FL (PRWEB) August 29, 2012
American Diabetes Wholesale recently had the opportunity to talk to retired NFL star and current ESPN Radio personality Mike Golic. Golic is continuing his work with Merck on a new program called ‘The Game Plan’ as they attempt to bring easy to use and understand tools to the public about diabetes care and management.
Golic was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2005 and had to make major changes in his nutrition and exercise programs so he could take control of his health. Through hard work and dedication to his ‘Game Plan’, Golic has successfully applied what it takes to lead a healthy life to his lifestyle, and he wants to see that others have the tools needed to do the same.
Below is our conversation with Mike Golic.
Q: It has been ten months since we have last talked. Can you give us a quick update on the ‘Blood Sugar Basics’ program that you are working on with Merck and the goals you were working towards?
A: Yes. We wanted to create a place where people with diabetes could go to with their questions. And we wanted to be a source that provides easy answers to those questions. I think that we have accomplished that goal and we continue to add new content to the site allowing us to further educate anyone that wants to learn more about diabetes management.
Q: How has the program been received thus far?
A: It has been fantastic. And it has prompted us to go back and get more useful information to put out there. The program is sponsored by The American College of Endocrinology (ACE) and with the great support of Merck, we have built a platform that provides great quality information.

About Mike Golic:
After nine years as a defensive tackle for the Houston Oilers, Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins, Mike Golic developed a new passion for sports by translating his presence on the football field to broadcast. Golic is now one of the namesakes behind the nationally acclaimed radio show Mike & Mike in the Morning on ESPN Radio, which as of January 2006 has been syndicated through ESPN2 and reaches 98 million American homes every morning. Golic is opening up about his diagnosis with type 2 diabetes and teaming up with the American College of Endocrinology (ACE) on the Blood Sugar Basics program. He aims to help people with diabetes learn about the importance of blood sugar control after experiencing a few episodes of low blood sugar himself. Golic is working with ACE and Merck on the Blood Sugar Basics program to help educate type 2 diabetes patients, their family and friends about symptoms and causes of low blood sugar and the importance of treating symptoms quickly before they have the potential to cause serious complications. His voice is familiar to many, and Golic is using it to communicate this critical health message to the millions of Americans affected by type 2 diabetes.
