Amobi Okoye has a strong belief that he has been blessed with a close knit and supportive family as well as the opportunity to play in the NFL. He feels that through these blessings he can become a vehicle of hope and change for others less fortunate. The Kentucky Derby has become the perfect opportunity to raise money for his non-profit organization, as well as bring more awareness to his efforts in the United States and abroad.
The “Derby City Party with a Purpose” is open to the public, giving Louisvillians the opportunity to attend an A-List party with A-List celebrities. This event will offer catered food, cash or open bar (dependent upon ticket level purchased @ $45 or $100), and some of the best entertainment Derby will have to offer via celebrity DJ Biz Markie. “Derby City Party with a Purpose” will have an R&B performance by Houston’s own Carl Thomas and will be hosted by Louisville’s own Amobi Okoye, #91 of the Houston Texans.
