eThority, a company delivering a powerful business intelligence and analytics platform with a "user-obvious" interface, announced today that Jim Young, PhD has joined eThority as the Director of Predictive Analytics and Modeling. Dr. Young will work to define and enhance existing statistical models in eThority's product suite, develop and implement new statistical procedures, and continue to transfer cutting-edge, powerful statistical data mining tools in the hands of data users and data generators.
Dr. Young has over 20 years experience in statistical and mathematical research, development, consulting, and teaching. He received a PhD in Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Masters Degree in Mathematics from Columbia University. Dr. Young served as Senior Analyst at Daniel H. Wagner Associates, an R&D think tank in Silicon Valley where he developed sophisticated mathematical and statistical models for application in industry, business, and government. He is the Founding Director of the Discovery Informatics Program at the College of Charleston, the first such undergraduate program of its kind in the country.
"I'm very excited to join eThority as its Director of Predictive Analytics and Modeling," said Dr. Young. "eThority's user-obvious architecture and [philosophy are perfectly suited for an emerging suite of predictive analytic tools that use data-driven model selection and prediction. I will be leading a team of talented individuals at eThority in designing and implementing sophisticated, state-of-the-art statistical data mining algorithms that work effectively and profitably with little to no statistical expertise needed from the user. My background and expertise are perfectly suited in continuing to achieve eThority's goal of 'changing the way you interact with data.' I relish the opportunity to bring this reality to all those who generate and use data to improve our lives."
"Dr. Young brings a tremendous wealth of knowledge about statistics and analytics to the eThority team," said eThority President and CEO, Mike Psenka. "He also shares our belief that running predictive modeling in Business Intelligence software should not be limited to analysts and statisticians. Together we will work to bring a logical predictive analytics benchmark to the masses."
eThority has a 17-year history in software development, support services and data reporting. The company developed its radically new Business Intelligence platform to allow customers to synergize their existing investments in information that remains idle in their legacy information systems via its user-obvious interface and robust backend architecture. eThority's solutions are in use around the globe at major research universities and leading corporations.
