Charity Navigator, America's largest independent charity evaluator, has awarded its highest rating of 4-stars to volunteer pilot organization Angel Flight West for the third consecutive year. Charity Navigator’s 4-star designation indicates AFW exceeds industry standards in financial management and transparency – two key factors in nonprofit management.
Charity Navigator helps charitable donors make intelligent giving decisions by evaluating over 5,000 charities and by sharing information on them at no charge. An independent nonprofit organization founded in 2001, Charity Navigator evaluates charitable organizations by performance of their financial health and their accountability and transparency. Reports include percentage of funds that go to programs versus fund-raising and administrative costs, percentage of funds spent versus dollars raised, and the charity’s long-term financial health.
“We are proud to announce Angel Flight West has earned our third consecutive 4-star rating. Receiving four out of a possible four stars indicates that your organization adheres to good governance and other best practices,” wrote Ken Berger, president and CEO of Charity Navigator. “Only 10 percent of the charities we rate have received at least 3 consecutive 4-star evaluations….This ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Angel Flight West from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”
“We are honored to again receive this recognition by Charity Navigator for our work. Since Angel Flight West’s inception in 1983, we have recognized and endeavored to meet our fiscal responsibility. We are gratified that Charity Navigator has recognized our constant adherence to rigorous accountability and transparency. Rest assured, we will strive to uphold Charity Navigator’s high standards, and to earn our donors’ continued trust and respect,” said AFW Executive Director Alan Dias.
Angel Flight West is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization that arranges free, non-emergency air travel for children and adults with serious medical conditions and other compelling needs.
