Angove Family Winemakers Awarded a Value Brand of the Year

“Ripe and concentrated wines at modest prices”

Wine & Spirits Magazine has named Angove Family Winemakers as one of its Top 50 Value Brands of the Year. Angove, one of Australia's oldest family-owned wine producers, was one of only five Australian wineries awarded this distinction.

One of the most influential U.S. wine publications, Wine & Spirits Magazine recognizes Angove Family Winemakers for offering "ripe and concentrated wines at modest prices." It notes the Vineyard Select McLaren Vale Shiraz and Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon as standout wines in the portfolio. The 2005 Vineyard Select McLaren Vale Shiraz led with a 91-point score, followed by the 2006 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and 2008 Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc, which both received 89 points.

The June 2010 issue of the magazine honors the 50 brands worldwide that received the most recommendations out of the 2,195 wines priced $20 or less that its reviewers tasted throughout the past 12 months.

"We are delighted to receive this distinction from such a well-respected wine publication," said Chairman and Managing Director John Angove. "Angove Family Winemakers strives to produce high-quality, flavorful wines that over deliver for their value-based prices."

Angove exports its Vineyard Select wines, an Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc, Clare Valley Riesling, McLaren Vale Shiraz, and Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon--as well as the Nine Vines Rosé, Viognier and Shiraz-Viognier and the Red Belly Black Shiraz--into the U.S. The wines are sourced from Angove's own vineyards and premium growers in South Australia.
