AAHAM is a professional organization that represents and advocates for healthcare revenue cycle professionals. It provides education and certification services for members as well.

“Virginia is an outstanding educator and advocate for the field of Medical Billing and Coding,” says Elizabeth Beseke, Campus President for Anthem College. “We are so proud to have her on our team not only for her immense knowledge but her gigantic heart for students.”

Berney, a 16-year veteran in the field, has taught at Anthem College for about five years. She has a host of accomplishments related to her work including:

  •     Nationally-recognized speaker at AAHAM’s Annual National Institute
  •     Certification Coach for the Gopher Chapter

Prior to joining Anthem’s faculty, Berney was a Coding Education Manager for Allina Hospitals & Clinics.

Several of Berney’s students have passed AAHAM’s billing or coding certification exams, which are provided separately. She has also helped students prepare for certification from the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC), another professional organization whose activities she supports. She mentors students in advocating for their profession as well, taking them with her to lobby state legislators on key billing and coding legislation.
