Anthem College in Beaverton will host an Open House next Wednesday, March 28, to present its allied health training and education programs to potential students. The Open House will take place between 9 am and 8 pm at the campus, located at 4145 SW Watson Ave in Beaverton. Students, faculty, and staff will be available to talk about Anthem’s programs, answer questions, and give campus tours.

“We want to spread the word about Anthem College’s commitment to both students and local employers,” says Leigh Christopherson, Campus President. “Our goal is to ensure that students who come here ready to learn will graduate ready to work. We stand by our students and give them the kind of support many of them need to succeed in school and prepare to enter a new career.” In fact, the school offers a Graduate Quality Warranty that guarantees its graduates are ready for entry-level positions in fields for which they have trained.

Anthem College offers diploma programs in five fields: Dental Assistant, Massage Therapy, Medical Assistant, Medical Billing and Coding, and Pharmacy Technician. Students learn in classrooms and labs designed to look like real-world worksites, where they learn and practice techniques in a hands-on environment.

Students benefit from Anthem College’s format, which allows them to focus on one class at a time in four-week sessions. “This lets them really learn the material,” Christopherson says. “Cramming is not the same as learning.” In addition, students who have successfully completed their coursework are required to complete Externships in local practitioners’ offices—dental clinics, physician offices, and pharmacies.

The exception is Massage Therapy students, who complete supervised rotations at an onsite massage therapy clinic where they work with actual paying clients. “Our other students love the clinic as much as its public clients,” Christopherson observes.

The campus hosts the local chapter of the American Academy of Professional Coders, a professional organization for medical coders and billers. Several Medical Billing and Coding graduates founded Anthem’s chapter in 2010.

The College also partners with the National Pharmacy Technician Association (NPTA) and STAT Educational Services as a licensed training facility to offer certificate training courses in sterile products/IVs and compounding to pharmacy technicians.

“Spring is a time when many people start to think about their futures,” Christopherson says.” Our Spring Open House is a good resource for anyone thinking about training for a new career. We will have people here they can talk to and answer their questions about our programs and the careers themselves.”
