Hands-on learning for Allied Health diploma programs will be featured at Spring Open House

We want people to drop by March 28 and talk to us about how Anthem can help them determine a track that meets their goals.

Anthem Institute in Las Vegas will host a day-long Spring Open House March 28 at its campus located at 2320 S. Rancho Drive, just off the Las Vegas Freeway/I-15. The event begins at 9 am and lasts until 8 pm.

Anthem Institute trains students to prepare to enter allied health careers that the Nevada Workforce Informer projects will be needed as the Baby Boom generation ages. Students can earn a diploma in one of these fields:

The Pharmacy Technician program is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. The schools itself holds institutional accreditation from the Accrediting Council of Independent Colleges & Schools. Dental Assistant instructors are preparing to start a student chapter of the American Dental Assistant Association on campus.

“We know that spring is a time when many people take a longer look at where they want to go in life,” says Janet Kent, Campus President. “So we want to let people know that they can drop by March 28 and talk to us—students, staff, and faculty—to learn more about how Anthem can help them determine an educational and career track that meets their personal and professional goals.”

Kent stresses Anthem Institute’s dedication to working with students and helping them transition into students while preparing for the workforce. “We offer flexible schedules that meet theirs, not the other way around,” she notes. Anthem students also take one class at a time, which Kent says lets them focus on learning the material before moving to the next course.

Anthem also emphasizes hands-on learning in labs designed to look like real worksites—dentist offices, medical practices, operating rooms, labs, and pharmacies. After completing coursework, students enter Externships with professional practices where they work with experienced staff. Massage Therapy students begin supervised rounds at an on-campus massage therapy clinic that serves paying clients.

The school also provides students with Career Services, which teaches them how to search for a job, interview techniques and what to wear; tutoring services; assistance with finding childcare, part-time jobs, or housing; and that one staple for college life—parties. “We celebrate students who have achieved high marks and perfect attendance,” Kent says. “We have parties for the holidays, Valentine’s Day, Thanksgiving, Halloween.” Parties are often combined with a volunteer opportunity, such as a flu vaccine clinic on Halloween or a food drive around Thanksgiving.
