"We believe that vintage bookends are intelligent, thoughtful, unusual gifts that last a lifetime. They complement any decor, usually appreciate in value, and are both beautifully functional and beautiful works of art," states Berton Miller, President of Old Friends, Inc.
The bookends offered by OldFriendsBookends.com were primarily produced from the early 1900s to around the beginning of World War II by foundries that, for the most part, no longer exist. A particular foundry may have produced, for example, 1000 pairs of bookends of the same design. When they were originally produced, they were not unique. However, in the intervening 70 to 100 years, each set that has survived had a different life, was subjected to different situations and environments. Thus, no two surviving sets are the same.
Every set of antique bookends is sent to the recipient with a Certificate of Heritage, which explains the story of the bookends, their history, material, rarity, foundry name, artist's name (if known) and approximate age.
Ivy Miller, Vice President, further reiterates that "vintage bookends make great business and personal gifts for people with special interests and anyone who appreciates artistic artifacts that are collectible items." These decorative bookends answer the age old conundrum of what to get the person who has everything.
Shoppers looking for a timeless gift idea this holiday season can browse the selection at OldFriendsBookends.com.
