We are extremely proud to have won this esteemed Readers Choice award.
ATLANTA, Georgia (PRWEB) May 01, 2012
WorthPoint Corporation, the world’s largest resource for researching art, antiques and vintage collectibles, based in Atlanta, GA, is honored to be named this year’s About.com Readers' Choice Award winner for the Best Resource for Collectors. The About.com Readers' Choice Awards are reader-driven and showcase the best of the best in hundreds of categories from technology to hobbies to sports. Starting in mid-January, reader nominations were accepted within these categories. Based on these nominations, the About.com experts chose up to five (5) finalists per award category which were then put up for vote. Finalists were announced in April 2012.
“We are extremely proud to have won this esteemed Readers' Choice award,” said Will Seippel, Founder and CEO of WorthPoint, “Helping our customers is the reason we exist and continue to evolve. Our goal at WorthPoint is to become the most effective resource a collector or antique enthusiast can turn to when looking to research, value or even buy or sell their antique, art or vintage collectible items.”
For collectors, one of the most difficult and frustrating undertakings is to not only identify a particular item, but also discover its worth. This is where WorthPoint excels by enabling their customers to research, value and even buy/sell their treasured items.
“I grew up with a European mother who always valued antiques,” said Will. “My background as well as my own interest in collecting drove me to develop WorthPoint.com, a centralized platform that has basically organized the world’s information on collectibles into a library or “worth” database that we have called the ‘Worthopedia’. Users have access to a wealth of data on prices, descriptions, pictures and sale dates.”
Avid collectors, pickers or weekend warrior types foraging garage sales, all want to know what their items are valued at in today’s market. Using more traditional search methods such as Google, Bing or Yahoo could be an adventure, but would probably lead nowhere. WorthPoint is the resource they can go to instead that makes their life much easier.
WorthPoint aggregates pricing information from major online marketplaces as well as auction houses of all sizes. It is easy to find and compare items to determine the value of collectibles, art, and antiques. WorthPoint also maintains a mobile app for iPhone and iPad that can be used out “in the field”.
The WorthPoint Corporation suite of offerings consists of WorthPoint.com, an online resource for researching and valuing antiques, art and collectibles; MarksandLibrary.com, an online resource for investigating makers’ marks as well as accessing a library of virtual books from leading publishers on a wide range of collecting topics; and GoAntiques.com, the leading online marketplace for buying and selling antiques, art and vintage collectibles.
Founded in 2007, WorthPoint Corporation is an international, online information and media company that has quickly become the world’s largest resource for researching art, antiques and collectibles. The company’s core feature is Worthopedia® — a vast database of sales records and images for 100+ million items that have been aggregated from eBay, virtual marketplaces and leading auction houses. In 2012, WorthPoint was named to the OnDemand 100 Top Private Companies List in the On-Demand Software category and it won the About.com 2012 Readers' Choice Award - deemed the Best Resource for Collectors!
