Whether you love them or hate them, you have to admit that the boom of antique- & collectible-related television shows has given a lot of attention to our industry.

WorthPoint Corporation today announced the results of a fan-based poll to determine the favorite antiques and collectible related show on television. The winner, as voted on by WorthPoint members and fans, was “Antique Roadshow” with 32.6 percent of the vote. “Cash & Cari” came in second place with 25.1 percent and “American Pickers” in third with 21.9 percent. As reality TV has become more and more popular, there have been numerous television shows created geared toward collectors and antique enthusiasts. Currently, these shows include "American Pickers", "Auction Hunters", "Antiques Roadshow", "Auction Kings", "Cash & Cari", "Hardcore Pawn", "Market Warriors", "Pawn Stars", and 'Storage Wars", among a few others. Each show deals with the antiques and collectible industry in its own way. Some focus primarily on picking or thrifting, others on the auction or estate sale. Some focus on the storage industry, while others gear toward the pawn shop experience.

Therefore, WorthPoint recently launched a poll to find out which show their fans’ made sure to watch every week. By a noticeable majority, “Antiques Roadshow” won this contest. Appearing on PBS, it is the precursor to all these other programs, having been on the air for 17-plus seasons. “Antiques Roadshow” travels around the country, as excited antique lovers show off their treasures to appraisers and find out what they might actually be worth.

“Cash & Cari,” airing on HGTV in the U.S. and W Network in Canada, is a reality show about estate sale agent, Cari Cucksey, who helps people sell their collections via an estate sale and tries to put into perspective what the retail price of a collectible might be, compared to the wholesale value that dealers are willing to pay.

“American Pickers,” on the History Channel, follows two pickers, Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, on their journey to salvage antiques and collectibles hidden in old barns, junkyards and homes of avid, and often quite eccentric, collectors.
