The American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians(ACOFP) has chosen Dr. Randy Barnett to be their representative to the American Osteopathic Association’s Sleep Medicine Conjoint Evaluating Committee. The ACOFP has recently been included among specialty colleges sponsoring the AOA’s Basic Standards for Fellowship Training in Sleep Medicine. Dr. Barnett is one of three osteopathic physicians Board Certified in Sleep by the ACOFP and is the first physician appointed to this newly created position for sleep medicine. His responsibilities will include advising physician teaching institutions about sleep medicine to ensure they follow the AOA and ACOFP recommendations.

I am excited to begin this position and do what is asked of me by the ACOFP and AOA to guarantee the highest level of sleep medicine in fellowship programs across the country,” stated Dr. Barnett. “This is an exciting opportunity with the AOA and ACOFP and I can’t wait to get started,” Dr. Barnett added. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine as well as Sleep Medicine and worked in family practice and Occupational Medicine before he joined University Services as a Medical Review Officer for the Toxicology Division in 2005. University Services is a multi-specialty medical services organization that provides Medical Review Officer (MRO) services for drug testing as well as sleep diagnostic and treatment services in multiple sleep centers in the greater Philadelphia area.
In 2007 Dr. Barnett developed an interest in Sleep Medicine and began assisting the Medical Directors in the Sleep Division of the company, and he was later board certified in sleep medicine in 2011 by the ACOFP. Dr. Barnett currently consults patients at two sleep center locations within University Services and continues providing MRO services for the toxicology services division.
