Apple Acknowledges OS X Malware

Apple has finally acknowledged that spyware and viruses are a threat for Mac OS X, as well as the latest operating system in the works, Snow Leopard. Snow Leopard will be adding new technology to help prevent against attacks such as sandboxing and anti-phishing features in Safari. This, however, is not a 100% solution to protect against malware.

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) June 10, 2009 -- Apple has finally acknowledged that spyware and viruses are a threat for Mac OS X (http://www.apple.com/macosx/what-is-macosx/security.html), as well as the latest operating system in the works, Snow Leopard. Snow Leopard will be adding new technology to help prevent against attacks such as sandboxing and anti-phishing features in Safari. This, however, is not a 100% solution to protect against malware.

SecureMac applauds Apple for recognizing that Macs are not immune to malware, as it contradicts their TV commercials which attack their counter-parts by implying Macs are completely secure. However, it is important to recognize that these new technologies in the operating system will not protect against all threats.

From Apple's website: "The Mac is designed with built-in technologies that provide protection against malicious software and security threats right out of the box. However, since no system can be 100 percent immune from every threat, antivirus software may offer additional protection."

To take it a step further, many anti-virus companies do not protect against the latest spyware threats, and only focus on viruses. Those who do claim to protect against malware do not protect against the latest threats or commercially available spyware applications -- charging subscription fees while not fully protecting users against malware. This is where MacScan comes in to offer protection as we have been since 2005 with our fast loading, clean and intuitive software for one flat rate.

MacScan protects against the latest spyware threats to Mac OS X, including trojan horses and keyloggers. MacScan goes a step further, and manages privacy concerns such as tracking cookies and web files that may contain personal or confidential information. MacScan identifies threats to your security and privacy, and allows you to quickly remove the threats from your system.

About MacScan
MacScan quickly detects, isolates and removes spyware from Macintosh computers using both real-time spyware definition updating and unique detection methods. The software also manages internet-related clutter on your computer. It is designed for Mac OS X version 10.2.4 and later.
