Appliances Online launches customer friendly navigation and intelligent search on a faster site.

Following the transfer of Appliances Online to a more rapid server and the introduction of the Fredhopper engine, we have cut our site load time by two thirds since January.

Online kitchen appliance retailer AppliancesOnline.co.uk improves its customer experience with the introduction of a new search and merchandising engine from e-commerce experts Fredhopper.

The adaption of this new engine sees improved site navigation, offering more customer-friendly search options, intelligent search which predicts spelling mistakes and a faster site load time.

As the Fredhopper engine is more powerful than has previously been used by Appliances Online, this means more relevant search results are returned faster. The website has also been moved to a faster, more advanced server for improved overall site response times.

Matthew Lawson, web & SEO manager at Appliances Online, comments, “Following the transfer of Appliances Online to a more rapid server and the introduction of the Fredhopper engine, we have cut our site load time by two thirds since January.

"We have also seen very positive results from the improved search, with orders increasing by 35% from customers who interact with this function."

A major improvement to the retailer's site navigation is the introduction of social navigation. For the first time customers have the ability to search by ratings other customers have given to appliances, rather than just the parameters provided by the retailer.

Other new additions to the navigation include options to search by added value such as promotions, warranty length and product videos as can be seen on the Bosch Exxcel dishwashers product lister page.
