We spent so much time developing, testing and refining the overall interactive experience, so that kids would love using the app whether they were in the classroom, or in the comfort of their own home.

Teachers and parents who want to give kids an interactive and results-focused way to enhance their math proficiency in: Operations & Algebraic Thinking; Number & Operations in Base Ten; Number & Operations-Fractions; Measurement & Data; and Geometry can now download two innovative new apps from Bright Minds LLC: Common Core State Standards® Grade 3 Math Practice Test and Common Core State Standards® Grade 4 Math Practice Test.

Designed with rich graphics and word problems that take advantage of the iPad’s enhanced display area and native interactive functionality, both apps provide grade 3 and grade 4 students (respectively) with full coverage of the critical areas identified by the Common Core State Standards initiative, which are being adopted by various States and School Districts to test student proficiency:*

• Grade 3: developing understanding of multiplication and division and strategies for multiplication and division within 100; developing understanding of fractions, especially unit fractions (fractions with numerator 1); developing understanding of the structure of rectangular arrays and of area; and describing and analyzing two-dimensional shapes.
• Grade 4: developing understanding and fluency with multi-digit multiplication, and developing understanding of dividing to find quotients involving multi-digit dividends; developing an understanding of fraction equivalence, addition and subtraction of fractions with like denominators, and multiplication of fractions by whole numbers; understanding that geometric figures can be analyzed and classified based on their properties, such as having parallel sides, perpendicular sides, particular angle measures, and symmetry.

In addition, both apps feature two tests that provide a range of questions, from simple quizzes to challenging multi-step problems. The tests are automatically scored at the end -- with incorrect answers conveniently highlighted -- so that teachers and parents can easily identify specific learning areas that require further instruction and attention.

Aside from the apps’ extremely robust and well-developed curriculum and instructional design, what makes them so remarkable is how easy and fun they make the learning experience – a factor that the developers say is critical for capturing the fleeting attention of young learners.

“Frankly, it doesn’t matter how powerful or useful a learning app for kids might be, if they don’t enjoy using it, then they’ll tune out and switch off,” commented a spokesperson from Bright Minds LLC. “That’s why we spent so much time developing, testing and refining the overall interactive experience, so that kids would love using the app whether they were in the classroom, or in the comfort of their own home.”
