AppZero | Contest: Name tool that moves apps

As enterprises embrace the cloud for production applications, application mobility and portability stand as either inhibitors or enablers of the Elastic Enterprise vision.

Application virtualization pioneer AppZero today announced a contest to name its groundbreaking tool for automatically moving enterprise applications to, from, and amongst clouds without engineering or lock-in. The company will debut the capability at Cloud Expo West in Santa Clara, CA November 7-10, demonstrating it in booth 422. After viewing a demonstration of the capability, attendees will be encouraged to name the tool and explain the reasoning behind the name. Non-attendees can also enter at http://www.appzero.com/contest.

AppZero CEO Greg O’Connor explained the contest’s genesis, “Our first choice was ‘AppMotion’ because it conveys the dual notions of ease and frequency of enterprise application movement. However, that name is already in use. So, we decided to open the naming effort to a cloud savvy audience starting at Cloud Expo.” O’Connor continued, “As enterprises embrace the cloud for production applications, application mobility and portability stand as either inhibitors or enablers of the Elastic Enterprise vision. AppZero is absolutely in the lead with this automation breakthrough. Let’s find a name that captures the reality as well as the excitement.”

In addition to bragging rights and a feature story on the website, AppZero will award the winner a $250 AmEx gift card. The contest will run through December 6th, 2011 at http:// http://www.appzero.com/contest and the company will announce the winner on December 8th.
