Argela Removes Physical Boundaries of Telecom With Its Convergence
Solutions
ISTANBUL, Turkey (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) August 25, 2008 --
Argela, one of the leading next-generation telecom solution providers,
is offering operators its patented technology innovation Convergence
Gateway for a variety of convergence solutions.
By combining its extensive experience and expertise in telecom
infrastructure technologies and applications, Argela focuses on devising
a solution to help the network operators expand their market beyond
geographical boundaries in a world where the communications networks
evolve towards an all-IP architecture. Ayse Erinc, Argela’s
Deputy CEO and COO, says: “Both fixed and
mobile network operators were offering their services within a limited
geographical area which defined the boundaries of their markets. Today,
however, it’s possible for them to offer their
services globally, to the whole world. Until recently, telecom operators
didn’t have the access to an infrastructure
which enables them to offer these services beyond their physical
boundaries. Converging telecommunications and Internet technologies, we
developed Argela Convergence Gateway to help telecom operators open
their infrastructure and make them independent of geographical
constraints and access networks, and to let subscribers access the
services no matter where they are in the world and no matter which
mobile device they use.”
Turkey’s incumbent operator Turk Telekom
introduced some of the products developed on Argela’s,
one of the group companies, Convergence Gateway.
The first service introduced is WIRO. By WIRO, users will be initiating
calls from their dual-mode handsets with the Wi-Fi support feature even
if there is no SIM card in the handset and no matter where they are. It
will also be available via computers with Internet connection. WIRO
users will benefit from very cheap tariffs advantage with this “always-carried”
add-on feature of fixed phones especially when they are abroad. This
service removes the boundaries of coverage for Turk Telekom though it is
an incumbent operator.
The second service showcased at the meeting is Wi-Phone, which offers a
comfort of personalized extension line to each individual living at the
same place and using the same fixed line. Wi-Phone meets the callers
with a pre-recorded announcement asking to dial the extension number of
the individual they are calling. When the caller dials the extension,
the call is accepted by the owner of that extension. Until now, a family
had to share the fixed line but now each member of the family will enjoy
having a personalized phone and line.
Turk Telekom also introduced calls between 3G handsets and videophones.
Videophone is one of the many innovative services developed on Argela
Convergence Gateway and allows users to make video calls. Video call is
possible between 3G handsets on the classical systems. However, this
next-generation technology, provided by Argela, makes it possible to
make a video call between mobile and fixed networks.
