World Communication Center & AAA Partner to Help Keep Arizonans Safe in Remote Areas

WCC Provides 20 Percent Discount to AAA Members for Iridium Satellite Communication Rentals

CHANDLER, Ariz. (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) July 9, 2008 -- Its 115 degrees under the glaring sun and your car has stalled on a dirt road in a remote Arizona desert. You try to call for help, but your cell phone doesnt work.

Signals from cell towers are not available everywhere in Arizona. A satellite phone fills in those gaps and allows you to stay in contact.
Now lets insert a satellite phone into the picture and the mood improves from anxiety to reassurance with quick access to emergency services and family.

Arizona travelers can immediately add safety and convenience to their trips anywhere in the world.

World Communication Center (WCC) in Chandler is now partnering with AAA Arizona to rent satellite equipment, with a 20 percent discount, to AAA Arizona members at a dedicated AAA rental page at www.wcclp.com/aaa.

Together with one of the largest satellite rental fleets for voice and data, WCC is the only U.S. Iridium service provider to be granted a service level agreement that includes 24/7 in-house technical support.

With 66 Lower Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, Iridium is the sole system that provides voice and data services across all oceans, airways and polar regions around the globe.

"The benefits are clear to anyone who has tried to make a cell phone call while traveling through rural portions of Arizona," said Gina Martinez, general manager for WCC. "Signals from cell towers are not available everywhere in Arizona. A satellite phone fills in those gaps and allows you to stay in contact."

She added, "Now you can feel confident as you rent a houseboat on Lake Powell, raft through the Grand Canyon or take an ocean cruise to Alaska and still stay in touch with family and business associates."

AAA Arizona (the Arizona affiliate of the American Automobile Association) provides automotive, insurance and travel services to nearly 800,000 members.

Were always looking for new products and services that can optimize our members travel experiences, says Jim Lehrer, VP of Member Experience and Distribution at AAA Arizona. Were excited to partner with WCC because their technology addresses a gap in todays communication infrastructure. Were pleased to be able to offer our members an affordable and reliable means to stay connected anywhere in Arizona, and while traveling internationally or cruising.
