Takashi Murakami Melting DOB E (Platinum), 2006 Silkscreen print on platinum leaf on paper 20.15 x 20.15 in. Edition of 50 Est. US$20,000–25,000

New York / Berlin (PRWEB) March 19, 2013

artnet Auctions is proud to present And then and then…The Art of Takashi Murakami, an exciting selection of over 40 prints, multiples, photographs, and works on paper by Takashi Murakami (Japanese, b.1962). The sale features silkscreen prints that have rarely, if ever, been offered at auction, including Melting DOB E (Platinum) (2006). This work, an important and dynamic silkscreen on platinum leaf from an edition of 50, is estimated at US$20,000 to 25,000.

Another rare offering is Dumb Compass (2009), a highly sought-after, Abstract silkscreen and gold leaf on paper from an edition of 30, estimated at US$12,000 to 15,000. And then and then…The Art of Takashi Murakami also features Study for Mushroom Painting # 1 (1999), a unique graphite work on paper, estimated at US$42,000 to 50,000. This framed work, which was acquired directly by the present owner from the Marianne Boesky Gallery, illustrates both the incredible hand and lively imagination of the artist.

The sale also features a diverse selection of multiples, including Coco (Project K02) (1999), estimated at US$13,000 to 16,000. Similar in theme is Miss Ko2-Nurse (2004), a color photograph from an edition of seven, estimated at US$11,000 to 14,000. In this piece, Murakami transforms his human model into an innocently sexual anime character.

And then and then…The Art of Takashi Murakami is live on artnet Auctions from March 14 to 26, 2013, and on view here.
