Ginger Gilmour has spent her life on a quest for Beauty. A student of English Visionary Artist Cecil Collins, Gilmour’s journey of exploration began as a child whose spirit could find beauty in the most unexpected places. Even within the smallest rill of running water on a derelict building site, she found beauty. She dreamt of prince charming and living happily ever after, of birds singing and poppy fields. Her quest eventually led her to Pink Floyd, the rock band, whose haunting music inspired her dream, and to her prince charming in the person of David Gilmour, lead guitarist of the band, with whom she founded a family. In the early 90’s, Gilmour’s journey turned into one of self exploration, and she discovered her inner dance, her inner beauty and the courage to reveal it. Today, Gilmour’s creations can be seen at Art People Gallery where her work is on permanent exhibit.
For Gilmour, Beauty is “a quality which leads us to the essence of all things.” The image of beauty is but a reflection, while the experience of beauty is a doorway, a doorway as unique to each individual as the path leading to it. During that process of exploration, Gilmour also discovered “The Truth of Woman,” which she explains as the “courage to live from the soul's perspective within all the archetypal images we have made to be Woman.”
Gilmour’s work captures a growing love of the many dimensions of our being and the world through representations of spiritual beings such as angels, or Kwan Yin, mother of the world. Her creations bridge the gap between the realms of the visible and the invisible; they draw in the viewer by the promise of the love and beauty that await her once she has freed herself from the dream in which she has been caught, so she can finally explore her own Truth as Being.
