San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) April 30, 2012
Born in Bremen, Germany, in 1942, Inge Behrens received a classical European education and graduated with a degree in fashion design. She started her artistic career in fashion design with well-known Hamburg-based firm Martina Modelle, before moving to the United States in 1964. After a break during which she got married and raised a family, Inge Behrens expanded her artistic scope and created her own business Calligraphy Designs in 1984. A couple of years later, she joined the Calligraphers’ Forum’s, becoming the organization’s president for two consecutive years in 1990-91. While an active member, she participated in the design of three books, in addition to which she published the “75th Diamond Jubilee of Walnut Creek,” a visual history of the city of Walnut Creek, CA which received official recognition and was displayed throughout the city. Today, Inge Behrens’ creations can be seen at Art People Gallery, a premier San Francisco art gallery, where her work is on permanent exhibit.
Inge Behrens has traveled extensively, visiting the Near East, Asia, the Americas and countries of the Pacific Rim. The visual experiences of these travels have found their way into her artwork. She has been able to capture the romantic feel of medieval castles, the tranquility of the tropics, and the calm quiet siesta of an old narrow Green passage at mid-afternoon. Although her strength and main interests lie in drawing and painting, Inge has a broad knowledge of a variety of artistic mediums.
Inge Behrens’ latest body of work still owes to the visual experiences of her travels. In it, one discovers vibrant tropical flowers: bright red orchids and anthuriums, floral splashes of red and green over a background of dazzling gold; birds of paradise over the radiant blue of a bright summer sky; yellow and white hibiscus flowers enhanced by a silver or sepia background…Her thistles and sunflowers conjure up visions of the Mediterranean, while lotuses and water lilies evoke the peace and tranquility of a sacred lake somewhere in the Far East…
Inge Behrens’ artwork can be seen at Art People Gallery in the Crocker Galleria, 50 Post St., Suite 41, San Francisco, CA 94104.
