San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) March 30, 2012
Best known for his brilliant colored acrylic paintings of abstract compositions, fashion motifs and dreams, John Vila has established himself as a leader in contemporary art. John was introduced to the art world by the late fashion designer Gianni Versace who facilitated an art exhibit sponsored by renowned designer and restaurateur, Gerry Kelly of Miami Beach. In 2003, the Expo Design Company published limited edition prints which made John Vila’s work accessible to millions of people in America and throughout the world. Since then, John has exhibited in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco where he currently lives. Today, John Vila’s creations can be seen at San Francisco’s Art People Gallery, a premier San Francisco art gallery, where his work is on permanent exhibit.
John Vila’s paintings are inspired from the beauty and humor of everyday things: the struggle of people, memories and dreams. Although not everything is revealed at once, he relates the images to certain memories and times in his own life.
By using acrylic and vibrant tones, John’s work takes on a theatrical mood. Of his work, John says, “I generally try to keep a delicate balance between the real and the abstract. The paintings are realistic yet magical; personal and universal, just like memories can be.”
John also created the “John Vila Endowment for the Arts” foundation, a non-profit 501c foundation dedicated to promoting the work of artists around the world. As one of the leading American contemporary artists, John feels compelled to put his fame and resources at the disposal of his fellow artists. For the past several years, the “John Vila Endowment for the Arts” foundation has raised money benefiting the less fortunate, and John’s paintings have been sold for millions of dollars around the world, with all proceeds going to non-profit organizations and charity foundations.
John Vila’s artwork can be seen at Art People Gallery in the Crocker Galleria, 50 Post St., Suite 41, San Francisco, CA 94104.
