If you have seen it once, you most definitely have not seen it all. This year, the always spectacular Virginia International Tattoo, presented by the Virginia Arts Festival, hits home with a tribute to military families at Norfolk’s Scope Arena, April 30 – May 2, 2010.

An astounding display of both patriotism and the spirit of international cooperation, the Tattoo is based on a European tradition dating back to the 17th century and features a ceremonial procession of military massed bands, pipes and drums, dancers, drill teams, singers and other performers. More than 900 participants from seven countries including Canada, France, the Netherlands, the Republic of Korea, Russia, United Kingdom, and the United States will fill the arena with a feast of celebratory sights and sounds like never before.

Be entertained by the Band of the Mounted Regiment from the Netherlands as they ride bicycles while playing their instruments. Be amazed by the precision of the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard Drill Team as they execute maneuvers that will leave you holding your breath. Be moved by the finale as the entire cast meets on the floor for a display unmatched in North America. The Tattoo isn’t just a performance; it’s an experience.

Complete with dazzling lighting and effects, the Virginia International Tattoo is the largest event of its kind in the United States and was included by the American Bus Association in its 2010 list of Internationally Known Events alongside perennial favorites like the Tournament of Roses in Pasadena, CA and the Indianapolis 500 Festival in Indianapolis, IN.

There is a reason families and fans return year after year to be a part of the pageantry and grandeur of this uniquely inspiring experience, now a beloved Virginia tradition.
