CalOHII’s vision of healthcare will be a milestone for California’s adoption of Health IT throughout the state and western region.
Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) October 10, 2012
Ascendian Healthcare Consulting, a national healthcare IT consultancy, has been engaged by CalOHII (California Office of Health Information Integrity) to work directly with the Office’s Health Information Policy and Standards (HIPS) Division to support the division’s programs focused on developing the privacy and security requirements necessary to support electronic exchange of health information. The HIPS Division also facilitates California’s Privacy and Security Steering teams which make recommendations to the California Health and Human Services Agency on privacy and security policies for electronic health information exchange environments.
“The Health Information Exchange trust being developed collaboratively by CalOHII will ensure that healthcare providers are comfortable with the business relationship and guidelines for exchanging protected patient health information. It is a first step to what will ultimately be the new reality of modern care where clinicians will have immediate access to the right information on the right patient at the right time regardless of where care was delivered,” said Shawn McKenzie, Chief Executive Officer at Ascendian Healthcare Consulting. “CalOHII’s vision of healthcare will be a milestone for California’s adoption of Health IT throughout the state and western region.”
Ascendian will provide a combination of health information exchange policy development expertise and consulting services as subject matter experts in privacy and security of health information exchange to support CalOHII:
- in developing the next release of the state’s Modular Model Participants’ Agreements (MMPA),
- taking a leadership role in participating in CalOHII Privacy Steering Team meetings,
- participating in Western States Consortium activities, and
- providing ongoing project coordination and support.
“It is an honor to be trusted by CalOHII to be a part of the state’s continued HIE Policy leadership and a privilege to be able to contribute to the state’s ongoing innovative HIE Policy programs such as the Western States Consortium and the Modular Model Participant’s Agreement projects,” said Aaron Seib, project lead for Ascendian on this engagement and President of 2311, LLC. “I look forward to working alongside CalOHII’s outstanding management team and staff.”
