New York, NY (PRWEB) May 06, 2012
Twin Cities plastic surgeon Joe Gryskiewicz, MD, is the new President of the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation (ASERF). Dr. Gryskiewicz is in private practice at Gryskiewicz Twin Cities Cosmetic Surgery with offices in Edina and Burnsville, MN. He has practiced medicine in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul for more than 25 years and is a Clinical Professor at the University of Minnesota Cleft Palate Clinics School Of Dentistry and is past Chief of Surgery at Fairview Southdale Hospital. He is the former co-chair of the Hot Topics Seminars at the national meetings of ASAPS and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) which discusses new and innovative procedures, devices and pharmaceuticals of interest to the plastic surgery community. “Dr. Joe” is also immediate past-president of The Rhinoplasty Society and the Minnesota Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is the author of the book, Your Body. Your Beauty. Your Safety. He serves on the editorial board of The Aesthetic Surgery Journal. Dr. Joe has published papers and book chapters on advances in rhinoplasty and breast augmentation techniques as well as presented multiple plastic surgery lectures on the international level.
Dr. Gryskiewicz was inspired to pursue a career in plastic surgery after a six-month trip as a volunteer in San Lucas Tolimán, Guatemala. Journeying by Jeep to the remote, guerrilla-occupied mountain regions, he worked around the clock, seven days a week, treating patients plagued with parasites, malnutrition, and tuberculosis. His most moving experiences came while living at the Casa Feliz orphanage, where he worked with the Cachchequal tribe of Central American Mayan Indians. Many of the orphans suffered from cleft lips or palates, and the life-changing difference a simple procedure made for them altered Dr. Gryskiewicz’s life as well.
