Dataium LLC, the largest aggregator of automotive shopping behavior, releases October’s ASI™ Index. The ASI™ index, which is a precursor to automotive sales in 30-45 days, shows some improvement in the marketplace for new and used car shopping intensity.
Imports continue to dominate the ASI™ report with seven of the top ten spots over the past six months. However, domestic manufacturers posted the strongest ASI™ gains from September to October, with Chevrolet and Chrysler leading the way. Additionally, luxury brands have consistently shown stronger indexes and gains during the previous six months, with Mercedes Benz having the highest ASI index for all brands over the same period.
It is encouraging to see the improved index for October, though it is still lagging behind its peak from earlier in the year,” stated Jason Ezell, President, “our hope of course, is that this is an emerging trend and we'll continue to see improvement going forward.”
