The Jazz Aspen Snowmass Festival takes place in Downtown Aspen Colorado at the Rio Grande Park, June 21-24, 2007. With sensational music, a festive atmosphere, all set in the middle of the majestic Rocky Mountains, this festival is one of the premier summer events in all of Colorado.

Performers this year include Herbie Hancock & Friends, Madeleine Peyroux, Earth, Wind & Fire, Steve Winwood, Angelique Kidjo, The Black Crowes, and Marcus Miller.

For accommodations, ResortQuest Aspen rentals and the Inn at Aspen are the places to scout out when looking for the ideal Aspen lodging. Vacationers in town for the festival can choose from picturesque riverside Aspen lodging or centrally located downtown accommodations with ResortQuest.

Founded in 1991, Jazz Aspen Snowmass (JAS) is a non-profit organization. The mission of JAS is to present and preserve jazz, American and popular music through world-class festivals, performances and education programs.

The original three day festival has evolved into an internationally recognized summer long series of both free and paid performances, and, diverse education programs reaching gifted students, dedicated teachers and young audiences. JAS inaugurates its second decade of existence with a new winter series of concerts and in-school residency programs.
The original June 1991 festival was inspired by its prestigious sister festival in Marciac (southwest) France, a charming village of 1000 in the rolling hills of Gascogne, near the Basque country.
Through the years since its inception, the organization has added a four day labor Day weekend event, a ten concert free music series in July and August, a ten day all scholarship mid-summer residence program, and beginning in winter 2007 a new small venue jazz series.

The June festival is set underneath a spectacular canopy tent with reserved seating for 3,000 in downtown Aspen at the Rio Grande Park. The September festival is an open air, dance oriented extravaganza of popular, R&B, rock, funk, blues, world and soul music taking place at the Snowmass Town Park, with the spectacular Elk Mountain Range as a backdrop, catering to crowds in excess of 8,000 daily.
