The community, which is located at 550 Kildeer Dr. in Bolingbrook, Illinois, serves older adults of all incomes, including those on Medicaid, who need some help to maintain their independence.

The program is open to the public. There is no charge to attend.

The Heritage Woods of Bolingbrook affordable assisted living community combines residential apartment-home living with the availability of personal assistance, help with medications, and a variety of convenience and support services.

"We provide a wonderful alternative to a nursing home or to struggling alone at home," says Simonson.

Residents live in private apartments that they furnish and decorate to their taste. Each of the studio and one-bedroom floor plans include a kitchenette, spacious bathroom with shower and grab bars, individually-controlled heating and air conditioning, and emergency alert system.

Certified nursing assistants, working under the direction of a licensed nurse, are on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All three meals each day, housekeeping and laundry are among the included services.

"Residents also benefit from all of the opportunities that are available to socialize with friends and neighbors and to participate in activities and special programs," says Simonson.

The community is certified to operate through the Illinois Supportive Living program and is managed by BMA Management, Ltd., of Bradley, Illinois.

BMA Management is the largest provider of assisted living in Illinois.

"Our focus," says Rod Burkett, President and CEO of BMA, "is to provide residents with the love, compassion and dignity that they deserve and the help and assistance that they need."

Communities managed by BMA include the Heritage Woods affordable assisted living communities in Batavia, Chicago, Gurnee, McHenry, Plainfield and Yorkville, Illinois. BMA also operates the Heritage Woods assisted living community in Huntley; the Churchview Supportive Living community in Chicago; and the Heritage Woods affordable assisted living and memory care community in South Elgin.

BMA will be managing the Deer Path affordable assisted living community for physically disabled adults 22 to 64 years of age that is under development in Huntley and the St. Anthony affordable assisted living community for low-income older adults that is being developed in Lansing, Illinois. Both communities are scheduled to open for occupancy this summer. Reservations are being accepted.
