Heritage Woods of Chicago, a BMA affordable assisted living community, will be offering Senior Fitness Classes at 9:30 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays during the month of June.

The community, which is located at Fulton and California of Chicago's west side, serves low income older adults, including those on Medicaid who need some help to maintain their independence.

"The exercise classes are designed to be fun and help you increase your fitness," says Cindy Gladney, Director of Marketing for Heritage Woods of Chicago. The exercises can be done while sitting in a chair and are open to all seniors. There is no cost to attend.

"We provide low income older adults with a wonderful alternative to a nursing home or to struggling alone at home," says Gladney. "Residents benefit from living in a residential apartment-home environment and receiving personal assistance and help with medications."

Certified nursing assistants are on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All three meals each day, housekeeping and laundry are among the included services.

"Residents also benefit from all of the opportunities that are available to socialize with friends and neighbors and to participate in social activities and wellness programs such as our Senior Fitness classes," says Gladney.

"Our focus," says Rod Burkett, President and CEO of BMA Management, "Is on providing residents with the love, compassion and dignity that they deserve. Our emphasis is on helping each resident to achieve and maintain as much independence as possible for as long as possible."
