Based in Bradley, Illinois, BMA Management is the largest provider of assisted living in Illinois.

The Blog on “Seniors: Helpful Tips to Reduce Your Risk of Being Scammed” won the award for Best Senior Finance and Legal Issues article.

The Blog focused on an informational program that was conducted at the Bowman Estates affordable assisted living community that BMA manages in Danville, Illinois. Ron Soderstrom, who serves as the Elderly Services Officer in Danville, provided advice on how older adults can protect themselves from fraud and scams.

The annual Assisted Living Today awards program is designed to honor the best articles and blogs from across the assisted living and senior care industry from the past year. A panel of industry experts selects the nominees, and on-line voting determines the winners.

This year, more than 60 articles in eight different categories were nominated.

The BMA Blog received more than 60% of the vote in the Senior Finance and Legal Issues category.

This is second year in a row that the BMA Blog has been honored by Assisted Living Today,

Last year, BMA won an Assisted Living Today Award for Best Senior Home and Senior Care Facility Blog for a blog on “Calling Assisted Living an Acute Care Setting Is Just Plain Wrong.” The Blog focused on comments that appeared in a story of “Can the CLASS Act by Saved” that ran in the LifeCycles section of the Washington Times.

Both Blogs were written by Rick Banas, Vice President of Strategic Marketing for BMA and resident of Palatine, Illinois.

BMA has managed Bowman Estates of Danville since the community opened for occupancy in May 2005.

Bowman Estates is the only senior living community in Vermilion County, Illinois, that is certified to operate through the Illinois Supportive Living program. The certification enables Bowman Estates to serve adults 65 and older of all incomes, including those on Medicaid, who need some help to maintain their independence.

The community combines the opportunity to live in a residential apartment-home environment and receive personal assistance, help with medications, and support services such as meals, housekeeping and laundry.

Bowman Estates is one of 36 senior living communities managed by BMA.
