"We offer older adults a wonderful residential alternative to a nursing home or to struggling alone at home"
Bradley, Illinois (PRWEB) January 18, 2013
Grand Prairie of Macomb, a BMA affordable assisted living community, is hosting a Celebrity Soup Cook-Off at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23.
The community, which is located at 1307 Meadowlark Lane in Macomb, Illinois, serves seniors of all incomes, including those on Medicaid, who need some assistance to maintain their independence.
Celebrities from Macomb and surrounding areas, including Macomb Mayor Mike Inman, will be bringing their famous soup recipes to Grand Prairie for judging by residents, says Andrea Keene, Administrator of Grand Prairie of Macomb.
"We invite you to come and join the fun," says Keene. Grand Prairie will be providing sandwiches and dessert, and The Tolands will be providing musical entertainment.
There is no cost to attend.

Grand Prairie is the only senior living community in McDonough County that is certified to operate through the Illinois Supportive Living program, and the community is managed by BMA Management, the largest provider of assisted living in Illinois.
"We offer older adults a wonderful residential alternative to a nursing home or to struggling alone at home," says Keene.
Residents live in private apartments, and personal assistance and help with medications is available.
Residents furnish and decorate their apartment to their taste.
Certified nursing assistants are on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Meals, housekeeping and laundry are among the included services.
Residents also benefit from all of the opportunities that are available to socialize with friends and neighbors and to participate in activities and special events such as the Celebrity Cook-Off, says Keene.
"Our focus is on providing residents with the love, compassion and dignity that they deserve in addition to the help and assistance that they need," says Keene. "Our emphasis is on helping each resident to achieve and maintain as much independence as possible for as long as possible."
A $4.8 million expansion program that will nearly double the number of apartments that are available at Grand Prairie of Macomb is scheduled to be completed this spring. Reservations for the apartments are being accepted.
BMA Management, the company that operates Grand Prairie, is the largest provider of assisted living in Illinois.
Based in Bradley, Illinois, the company manages 36 senior living communities that house more than 3,300 homes and apartments.
