The $4.8 million expansion project at Grand Prairie of Macomb, a BMA affordable assisted living community in McDonough County, Illinois, has opened for occupancy
The community is designed to serve older adults of all incomes who need some help to maintain their independence, providing them with the opportunity to live in a residential apartment-home environment and receive personal assistance and help with medications.
“With the expansion, Grand Prairie nearly doubled in size, going from 48 to 86 apartments,” said Andrea Keene, Administrator of Grand Prairie. “We welcomed the first residents into our new apartments yesterday.”
Keene added that an Expansion Grand Opening Open House is being held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, April 5, at Grand Prairie, which is located on the southeast side of Macomb, Illinois, at 1307 Meadowlark Lane.
“We invite you to come and see our new apartments and learn about the affordable assisted living lifestyle that is available at Grand Prairie,” says Keene. Tours, refreshments and opportunities to win gift cards and door prizes will be available.

At the ribbon cutting ceremony that was held last week to mark the completion of the expansion project, Macomb Mayor Mike Inman congratulated Keene and thanked BMA for being involved with Grand Prairie.
“Andrea, all the kudos go to you,” said the Mayor.
Rod Burkett, President and CEO of BMA Management, noted that “our focus is on providing residents with the love, compassion and dignity that they deserve in addition to the help and assistance that they need to maintain their independence.”
At Grand Prairie, certified nursing assistants are on-duty at Grand Prairie 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All three meals each day, housekeeping and laundry are among the included services.
“Residents also benefit from all of the opportunities that are available to socialize with friends and neighbors and to participate in social and recreational activities and special programs,” says Keene.
