"Both your mind and body benefit"
Bradley, Illinois (PRWEB) May 23, 2013
Heritage Woods of McHenry, a BMA affordable assisted living community, is hosting an interactive presentation on Laughter Yoga at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29.
The community, which is located at 4609 W. Crystal Lake Rd. in McHenry, Illinois, serves older adults of all incomes, including those on Medicaid, who need some help to maintain their independence.
Caryl Darenfeld of Learned Conversations will be conducting the program. She is a Laughter Yoga Leader and motivational speaker.
Laughter Yoga was developed by Dr. Matan Kataria of India as a way of achieving better overall health and well-being, says Darenfeld. It consists of a series of exercises that involve breathing, stretching, clapping and laughing. Both your mind and body benefit.
One of the beauties of Laughter Yoga, says Darenfeld, is that it can be done while standing or while sitting down.
The program is open to the public. There is no charge to attend.
For more information or to reserve your spot, call Jenneen Hansen, Director of Marketing for Heritage Woods of McHenry, at 815-344-2690.
"We provide older adults of all incomes with a wonderful alternative to a nursing home or to struggling alone at home," says Hansen. "Residents benefit from living in a residential-apartment-home environment and receiving personal assistance and help with medications."
Private studio and one-bedroom apartments are available. Each of the apartments features a kitchenette, spacious bathroom with showers and grab bars, individually-controlled heating and air conditioning, and an emergency alert system.
Certified nursing assistants are on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All three meals each day, housekeeping and laundry are among the included services.
"Residents also benefit from all of the opportunities that are available to socialize with friends and neighbors and participate in activities and programs such as the presentation on Laughter Yoga," says Hansen. Darenfeld is returning to conduct the Laughter Yoga program at Heritage Woods by popular demand of residents, she adds.
