H3 Assist (Helping Hand at Home) is celebrating its one-year anniversary of providing assisted living and in-home care in Orange County. In February of 2010, H3 Assist was created to offer in-home care to seniors and others with special living needs. Founder Scott Morton says the idea for H3 Assist came from the level of care his brother Glenn received after an automobile accident in 2005.
On April 27, 2005, Glenn Morton was driving to Huntington Beach to teach tennis lessons when his 1969 Volkswagen van was struck by a vehicle jumping the median. For six weeks, Glenn was in a coma from bruises and swelling to his brain. His doctors predicted he would never talk or walk again.
Upon waking up from his coma, Glenn began the rehabilitation process. He slowly recovered memories and has gradually regained strength to his arms and legs, thanks to 15 months of rehabilitation. He has even begun taking steps and helps coach tennis at a local high school. Much of Glenn’s success is due to the in-home care he has received since returning from the hospital on October 19, 2005.
“H3 Assist was created in part as a result of the great home care my brother receives to this day,” said Morton. “Without the personal care, companionship, meal preparation, 24-hour care and support, Glenn’s recovery would have been severely compromised. His caregivers allow him to maintain the highest level of independence, and live at home.”
The first full year for H3 Assist has been aimed at offering customers the same care giving Glenn received during his rehabilitation process. This quality care-giving and senior care will continue in the upcoming years for H3 Assist.
“My brother’s automobile accident gave me a great appreciation for the wonderful healthcare that’s available when we need it most,” said Morton. “Paramedics, hospitals, ER doctors, nurses, therapists, care managers, hospital staff, rehabilitation centers, and home care all contributed to a miracle recovery that exceeded our wildest expectations. I will always be grateful to everyone who helped Glenn.”
