Luau Party at BMA Affordable Assisted Living to Feature Steel Drum Music

John Evans Supportive Living, a BMA affordable assisted living community, is hosting its annual Luau at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 26.

The community, which is located at 1320 Executive Ct. in Pekin, Illinois, serves older adults of all incomes, including those on Medicaid, who need some help to maintain their independence.

The Luau, which is open to the public, will feature the steel drum music of Becky Baker. There is no charge to attend.

The Luau is part of the community's celebration of Supportive Living Week 2013.

John Evans is one of the 138 communities in Illinois that operate through the Illinois Supportive Living program.

Supportive Living Week is an anuual celebration hosted by the Affordable Assisted Living Coalition designed to call attention to the Illinois Supportive Living program, which provides older adults and adults with physical disabilities with an alternative to a nursing home or to struggling alone at home.

This year, the week of April 22 through 26 has been designed as Supportive Living Week.

"Residents of Supportive Living communities such as John Evans benefit from living in a residential apartment-home environment and receiving personal assistance and help with medications," says Bridget Rumler, Director of Marketing for John Evans Supportive Living.

Studio and one-bedroom apartments are available, with each of the floor plans featuring a kitchenette, spacious bathroom with shower and grab bars, individually controlled heating and air conditioning, and an emergency alert system.

Certified nursing assistants are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All three meals each day, housekeeping and laundry are among the included services.

"Residents also benefit from all of the opportunities that are available for socializing with friends and neighbors and for participating in activities and special events," says Rumler.

John Evans Supportive Living is managed by BMA Management, Ltd., the largest provider of assisted living in Illinois.
