Heritage Woods of Plainfield, a BMA affordable assisted living community, is hosting a community health informational program on "Eye Opening Facts about Low Vision" at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26.

The community, which is located at 14731 S. Van Dyke Rd. in Plainfield, Illinois, serves older adults of all incomes, including those on Medicaid, who need some help to maintain their independence.

Therapists from The Comprehensive Group will be conducting the program.

"They will be talking about how low vision can compromise a person's safety and will be providing tips for individuals who live with low vision acuity," says Leah Suzanne, Director of Marketing for Heritage Woods of Plainfield.

The program is open to the public. There is no charge to attend.

The Heritage Woods of Plainfield affordable assisted living community combines residential apartment-home living with the availability of personal assistance, help with medications and a variety of convenience and support services.

"We provide a wonderful alternative to a nursing home or to struggling alone at home," says Suzanne.

Each of the private studio and one-bedroom apartments at Heritage Woods of Plainfield features a kitchenette, spacious bathroom with shower and grab bars, individually-controlled heating and air conditioning, and an emergency alert system

Certified nursing assistants, working under the direction of a licensed nurse, are on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All three meals each day, housekeeping and laundry are among the included services.

"Residents also benefit from all of the opportunities that are available to socialize with friends and neighbors and participate in activities and special events," says Suzanne.

The community is certified to operate through the Illinois Supportive Living program and managed by BMA Management, Ltd., the largest provider of assisted living in Illinois.
